The 2013/14 curling season has arrived! Although many club curlers do not start regular season play until after Thanksgiving, the high performance teams have already been battling it out on the ice.
The first event on the World Curling Tour calendar, the Baden Masters, was held August 30 to September 1, in Baden, Switzerland. Twenty teams took part, and in the end, it was a contest between two Goldline ambassadors for the title. After beating the Swiss team (and Goldline ambassadors) skipped by Sven Michel in the semi-final, the Brad Gushue foursome moved on to beat the Norwegian team skipped by Thomas Ulsrud in an extra end. Congratulations to both teams for their excellent showing!
While at the Baden Masters, Brad Gushue took time off the ice to conduct an interview for the Curling Champions tour; click here to see what Brad had to say.
From September 5 – 8, a field of 35 men’s teams gathered in Oakville, Ontario, for the Stu Sells Tankard. Our Goldline ambassadors made us proud. Brad Gushue, fresh off his win in Switzerland, made it as far as the semi-final round of play, while the team skipped by Brad Jacobs, the defending Brier champion and 2013 world silver medallist, emerged as the victor on the men’s side of the draw. Congratulations to our newest Goldline ambassadors!
On the women’s side of the draw in Oakville, congratulations are extended to Goldline ambassador Debbie McCormick (a key individual distributor for Goldline in the U.S.A.) and the rest of team Erika Brown for making it to the semi-final round of play where they lost to the event winner, team Middaugh of Ontario.
Congratulations are extended to Goldline ambassadors Crystal Webster, Cathy Overton-Clapham, Geri-Lynn Ramsay, and Sam Preston for winning the consolation event at the Good Times bonspiel held in Calgary, Alberta, September 6-8! Well done!
This past weekend, the featured event on the curling calendar was The Shoot-Out at the Saville Centre. Goldline ambassadors did us proud, with the team skipped by Kevin Martin winning the men’s title and the team skipped by Crystal Webster winning the women’s title.
Looking ahead, the next event on the roster is in Brockville, Ontario, where the AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Classic will be played from September 19-22, 2013.
