Curling Calendar Update – to September 30, 2013

Things are going strong on the World Curling Tour!

From September 19-22, the best teams in the world were to be found in Brockville, Ontario, for the AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Classic.  Hats off to the team skipped by Brad Jacobs, who emerged as winners of the men’s crown.  The team is clearly on a roll, having won the Stu Sells Tankard just two weeks earlier.

On the women’s side of the draw, Rachel Homan and her team mates made it to the final, but lost to the Swiss team skipped by Mirjam Ott.  Congratulations to the Homan team on its fine showing.

Going further abroad, several Goldline ambassadors played in the China Open in Beijing, China.  Congratulations are extended to Chelsey Carey and her team mates for their runner up finish to Korea in the women’s final.

This past weekend, a stellar field assembled in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, at the Point Optical Curling Classic.  After two wins so far this season, team Jacobs was hoping to make it to yet another final, but lost in the semi-finals to another Goldline ambassador, Kevin Martin.   Martin, also looking for back to back wins, came up a bit short, losing to Jeff Stoughton.  Congratulations to Kevin, David, Marc and Ben on their strong showing.
Also this past weekend, in Ottawa, Rachel Homan and her team mates won the Moosehead Fall Open.  Congratulations ladies!

There is much more curling action in the weeks to come.  This coming weekend, the action shifts to Vernon, British Columbia, where a strong field will play for the title at the Prestige Hotels and Resorts Curling Classic.  A couple of our Goldline ambassadors will also be in action at the Swiss Cup, in Basel, Switzerland.  And the following weekend, the Curling Corner Autumn Gold Curling Classic will be played in Calgary, Alberta.

It’s been a great curling season so far and there is a lot more to come!  Stay tuned!
