Curling fans: you have every reason to be excited about the upcoming season. There is going to be more curling this season than ever before: Road to the Roar (Olympic pre-trials); Roar of the Rings (Olympic trials); the Olympics; at least four Grand Slam curling events brought to us by Rogers Sportsnet; Continental Cup (curling in Vegas!); the Scotties; the Brier; and the world curling championships (women’s in St. John, N.B.; men’s in Beijing, China).
Here at Goldline, things are in high gear already. With so much focus on curling this season, here are the top 3 reasons why we think this year is going to be one of the best ever.
1) Goldline Ambassadors
At Goldline, we pride ourselves on the company that we keep. We believe in quality, in both product and people. This season, we are proud to align ourselves with some of the best teams in the sport, including: 2013 world curling champions Nicolas Edin (Sweden) and Eve Muirhead (Scotland); 2013 Brier champion and world silver medalist Brad Jacobs; 2013 Scotties champion and world bronze medalist Rachel Homan; 3-time Canadian champion and former world champion Jennifer Jones; 2010 Olympic gold medalist Kevin Martin; 2010 Olympic silver medalist and 3-time European champion Thomas Ulsrud; and 2006 Olympic gold medalist Brad Gushue.
2) Quality Curling Events
It takes many things to run a successful event: organizing staff, volunteers, fans, players, and equally important, sponsoring corporations. Goldline is pleased to support the sport of curling internationally, nationally and locally.
This year, for the first time ever, we’ll be a proud sponsor of the 2013 European curling championships, being held in Stavanger, Norway, from November 23-30, 2013.
In Canada, we are partnering again with Rogers Sportsnet for the Grand Slam of Curling. The dates confirmed for this season are as follows:
- Masters: October 29 – November 3; Abbotsford, B.C.
- Canadian Open: November 13 – November 17; Medicine Hat, Alta.
- National: March 12 – March 16; Fort McMurray, Alta.
- Players’ Championship: April 15 – April 20; Summerside, P.E.I.
And for those in the Greater Toronto Area, the TCA Goldline men’s bonspiel will be played from January 11 – 18, 2014, with Dixie Curling Club hosting the finals.
3) Continued Product Innovation and Focus
In a competitive marketplace such as ours, there is no room for complacency. At Goldline, we have a have a solid track record when it comes to product innovation. Last year, we introduced the Norway pad, which revolutionized the game. And we have even more to offer this year. We have several new products, and new colours of existing products, which we think will serve the needs of curlers, both those new to the sport as well as those with a bit more experience under their belts. Among the new products are: Vision series of brooms; excaliber delivery stick with a telescoping handle; Scepter delivery device; Sierra top; Lillehammer jacket; and Savannah pants for women. Come see all the new items in any one of our stores or visit us online.
It’s going to be a great curling season and Goldine is ready to rock!
