Introducing Goldline Ambassador Bronwen Webster

We are proud to introduce you to Goldline ambassador, Bronwen Webster, vice for the team skipped by Shannon Kleibrink. Bronwen has been on the curling scene for many years, having made numerous Alberta Scotties’ appearances. She was part of the Kleibrink team that finished second at the 2008 Canadian Women’s curling championships (she also played in the 2011 Scotties) as well as at the 2009 Canadian Olympic curing trials.

Kevin Przygocki: Future Olympian?

Curling is enjoyed by people, young and old, around the world. One of its biggest fans is Kevin Przygocki, a 15-year old from Bay City, Michigan. Debbie McCormick recently sent us this story about Kevin whose interest in the sport dates back to 2006, the year in which Goldline ambassador Brad Gushue won the Olympic gold medal in Pinerolo, Italy.

Beyond the Basics: Curling Bonspiels

Consider entering a bonspiel! A bonspiel is simply a curling competition, involving several teams, that runs for a single day or over a period of several days. I assure you: you do not need to aim as high as the Brier or the Scotties. Virtually every curling club hosts multiple bonspiels throughout the season which are open to anyone wishing to pay the fee to enter.

Curling Brooms: The Basics

In a curling game, players other than the skip throw only two rocks but sweep six others. Given the importance of sweeping, it should come as no surprise that curling brooms are the second most important piece of curling equipment, ranking only behind curling shoes. When choosing a broom, there are three key things you need to consider: the material comprising the shaft/handle, the diameter of the broom shaft, and the type of head.
